Popsicle Sidewalk Chalk

     Today I am going to share with you the perfect outdoor summer activity.

     After  looking at this, from Brittany, at Buttons, Birds, and BS it inspired me to create Sidewalk Popsicle Chalk Paint.  In the past we have painted with chalk paint  and the kids loved it!  I knew they would love this as well and they did!

Sidewalk Popsicle Chalk Paint
You will need:

• ice cube tray
• bowls for mixing
• water
•  cornstarch
• stirring utensils
• food coloring
• popsicle sticks (Britney also used straws)
• Liquid measuring cup (or something to pour liquid easily in ice cube tray)

Add 2 Tablespoons of cornstarch in a bowl

Then add 2 Tablespoons of water and stir.

Add a few drops of food coloring and stir.

Pour mixture into liquid measuring cup

Pour liquid into ice cube tray

 Add popsicle sticks.

I froze for 3 hours and then transferred to plate to play outside and have a blast!!

C had fun painting this brick.  I loved that the paint disappeared when I dumped water on it!

C ran and threw a tantrum when we were out of paint.  She was not happy!  

    The popsicle sidewalk chalk cleaned up easy with the garden hose.   I  sprayed water on the concrete to wash the paint off when I watered the garden that night.

    We had a blast painting with Popsicle Sidewalk chalk!  I hope you try it with your kids.  They will love it!

A Picnic Lunch

    C loves picnics, but we don't do them  often.   Sometimes instead of going to a park to have a picnic, we have one in our backyard.  To her...that is just as fun (ok...almost as fun).  The other day it was her and  A so I decided it was the perfect day to have a picnic lunch.  I packed a sack lunch for the girls which they LOVED!   Here are some pics from our lunch

Milk painting Marshmallows

       Today we painted marshmallows with milk!  I originally saw the idea (here) where they were painting popcorn and large marshmallows.  We have painted popcorn, shredded wheat, oatmeal squares, paper, crackers, and marshmallows using this method.  It's so easy and the kids love it.  It's a great way to use up milk that is about to spoil!

Here's what you need

• milk ( I usually do this right before the date expiration) 
• food coloring
• bowls
• paint brushes

Talking about the letter M very briefly!  I showed them a bag of marshmallows and pretended to eat one and said "mmmm."

 Milk, food coloring, and bowl is all you need.

1 Tablespoon of milk

Food coloring

Grab a paintbrush and marshmallows and start painting away

Working on motor skills and not even aware of it!

Gripping a small marshmallow and painting it requires concentration and good hand-eye coordination.

Checking out what others are doing.

Mmmm...I think I'll have one.

What happens if I dump pink into purple? 

"It kind of looks closer to brown." C says.

Can I get away with eating 1 marshmallow?  Let me see....

Or instead of painting them...you could dump them in the bowl.

  
      We had so much fun!  You should try it!  You can eat the marshmallows or let them dry and then use them to create a piece of art.   This is a great way to get rid of marshmallows.  Honestly, the kids usually eat 4-6 marshmallows when we do activities with them.  I will take that over having them finish off the rest of the bag by themselves.
